Area no Kishi / The Knight in the Area is a soccer series adapted from the Weekly Shonen Magazine manga written by the multi-pennamed "Hiroaki Igano." Without wishing to spoil important plot points, the series tells the story of two brothers, one of whom is a soccer prodigy destined for international glory, and the other who struggles under his brother's shadow.

I haven't yet read the manga (the scanlations are about 180 chapters behind current releases), so I can't compare the anime to the original, but the anime is okay so far. The writing doesn't have the quality I expected from the author of something like Bloody Monday, and there are some aspects of the show that are definitely aimed at an audience younger than me (flashbacks of something that happened in the same episode, a red card being produced anytime someone makes a move on the female lead, etc.), but the serious side to the story is engaging. On a personal note, I'm loving the Arsenal references.

Is anyone else watching this?
