In addition, the tier list section of the forums has some additional rules:

Search and Read First

- Before starting a new topic, ensure the argument you are about to make has not already been made in another topic.
- If your argument has not been made before, start a new topic with a clear thesis as the topic title and make your point in the post.

Support Your Argument

- Provide evidence detailing why you disagree with a character's position on the tier list. Support your opinion with whatever specific, canonical evidence you can find. This includes (in descending order of preference): Links to pages in online manga readers; images (enough to provide context); links to detailed user-generated sites (Wikipedia, Wikia, etc.). Please don't rely entirely on fan sites for specific series (such as NarutoForums or Arlong Park), as they are usually biased in favor of the series to which their site is dedicated.

- When discussing characters from series that have both manga and anime, only the original version from the original author(s) counts as canon. In most cases, this means that only what happens in the manga is relevant to tiering, and what happens only in the anime is not up for discussion.

- If you do not have specific evidence supporting your argument but you still question a character's placement, please make it clear that you are asking the community for help, and provide as much rationale for your argument as you can.

Stay Focused

- Make sure the main purpose of your post is to argue your point. If you are arguing with someone, argue with the point they have made; do not attack them personally.
- Do your best to stay on-topic.

To summarize, here are a few examples:

"I can't believe you have Bleach characters so high up, they would get owned by Naruto characters."

- Unspecific and unsupported argument. Unacceptable.

"WHY ARE ONE PIECE CHARACTERS SO LOW? One Piece is so much better than the series at the top. You guys are dumb, YuYu Hakusho sucks."

- Irrelevant opinion of series quality and a personal attack. Unacceptable.

"Nami should be rated higher. Her Fata Morgana technique creates mirages that would make many characters above her, including Kenichi and Hayate, unable to hit her. She first uses Fata Morgana in chapter 411, and her Perfect Clima-Tact page from the One Piece Wikia explains her ability in more detail. Shouldn't she move up?"

- Specific, detailed, civil, and open to discussion. Completely acceptable. (Incidentally, I disagree with this argument, because Nami needs time to change the weather of the battlefield to use Fata Morgana, so the characters ranked above her would defeat her before she set up the mirages.)
