Between the holiday-related chapter absences and the tweaking of the power rankings formulas, there’s a little chaos in the changes this week. Hayate no Gotoku! and Mahou Sensei Negima! join the ranks, the former in impressive form thanks to a solid climax to its current arc.

So what are these power rankings based on anyways? It’s kind of hard to gauge what the numbers mean without knowing.

Thanks for pointing this out. I’ve updated the About page to further explain what power rankings entail. To summarize, each chapter is scored (based on criteria such as plot, character development, art, etc.); scores from a 5-week period are then run through formulas, which give the most weight towards current chapters, to produce the weekly power ranking score. Thus, power rankings are an indication of the current quality of each series.
