Absent: SWOT

Interesting list rankings this week, indeed.

Beelzebub: I wouldn’t rank it highest, but I wouldn’t say it deserves much lower. it hasn’t been uninteresting or terrible to read recently though so I can easily see why it;s ranked so.

Kimi no Iru Machi: Should I pick this up? Seems pretty impressive from your reviews I’ve seen.

Enigma: Best Series to begin in 2010. Easily.

Fairy tail: This arc is so good so far, but then again that Fanservice chapter was terrible. But hopefully these next 3 chapters at once will be enjoyable to read and listen to your reviews.

One Piece + Naruto: They were so high before, Guess the big 3 have had chapters that aren’t as good as the they have done before.

Bleach: IT ISIN’T LAST!? I must say, I know you will post the Review of the new chapter [424] soon, but I adored this chapter. Even those who despised the whole Arrancar Arc have complimented it.

Unfortunately, I have to work around the schedule of scanlation teams, so don’t forget that these rankings account for the 5-week period ending with 10/10 – 10/16. Therefore, that Fairy Tail fanservice chapter is the most recent in this set, accounting for why the series has dipped so low in an otherwise good arc. One Piece is so low because it’s still carrying three weeks of absences in its score (from its hiatus), so expect that to rise (though not necessarily to the top). Naruto is so low mostly on merit, but it does still have one absent week in its score (last week), accounting for a slight dip.

Bleach has avoided last place recently through a combination of its own slight improvement and the absolutely terrible form of MiXiM and Reborn lately. (SWOT would almost certainly be below Bleach as well, if chapter 14 had been out; probably dead last, actually.) Bleach’s two-week absence starts in next week’s Power Rankings, so while the Bleach 424 review will be posted soon, it won’t be reflected in Power Rankings for a while.

Kimi no Iru Machi used to be strong recommendation of mine, then it was a depressing and angsty week-to-week read, and then recently it’s improved again. I think that now would be a good time to start if you’re interested, given that a huge chunk of the angst and drama is behind us, so you could breeze through it as a marathon read, rather than suffer with it over the course of months. It isn’t my highest recommendation of currently-publishing series, but it’s definitely enjoyable.

My opinion on these rankings is that many highly-ranked series are up there more because of weak competition rather than their own strong showings. Many series have been absent recently, as well, meaning the scores don’t necessarily reflect overall series quality.
